stories about the breakup of his marriage and the divorce settlement and the
accusations of unfaithfulness, but there are also stories and talk about what a
great player he is and how he is playing through all of the turmoil in his
personal life and even through an excruciating injury on the wrist of his
shooting hand. Now let me be clear up front that I don’t know him and I don’t
know the details of his life. I don’t know the validity of the accusations or
what he did or didn’t do to work things out with his ex. What I do know is how
familiar this story is both among the famous and the unknown in our country. It
certainly gets more press when it is someone famous.
When I think about a man being focused enough on a goal to not allow
anything to stop him it seems like an extremely commendable goal. I wonder how
different the divorce rates, teen suicide, teen runaway, teen pregnancy, gangs,
drug use, etc. would be if men would have that kind of determination and invest
that kind of energy and sacrifice into being faithful to their commitments in
the home. What if instead of putting everything into work, we worked for the
ability to come home and raise our family. What if instead of leaving the family
home to go out with the guys or out on some recreational trip on his own, he
decided to spend recreational time with his wife and/or children.
